Golf Kern made it out to Bakersfield Country Club on Wednesday January 30th, 2019 to see the players tee off in the first round of the Motor City Bakersfield Open, a Golden State Tour event. The tournament had a good turnout, with 80+ players, including 7 local players. Unfortunately the weather did not play nice after the first day, making playing conditions challenging, but the player's didn't let that stop them, there were some great scores made, both in the dry, and in the wet.
For those who were not able to make it out to Bakersfield Country Club, we took a few photos ( see below ), to see what you missed.
The winner was Alex Kang from Las Vegas, Nevada, who finished the tournament with 67 67 after shooting a 71 on the first day. Brad Marek from San Francisco took solo 2nd, while Bryan Martin ( Thousand Oaks ) and Matt Picanso ( Vista, Ca ) and Jonathan Garrick ( Los Angeles, Ca ) all tied for 3rd. Mj Morin was the highest placed player from Bakersfield, who took T6th, while another local player Bhavik Patel took T8th, with the other Bakersfield players not making the cut, which took the top 25 players.
